Oyster Divers and Oyster Diving Rigs of the Chesapeake Bay
Diving for oysters is relatively new to the oystermen of today. Oyster Diving has been in use for about twenty five years, but we're sure the Indians dove for oysters long before we settled here.
It takes two men on deck to handle the boat, cull the oyster and take care of the diver. The limit per day is thirty bushels per boat. The harvest time limit is from sunup to three PM. Five days a week Mon. through Fri.
